What your kid actually learns

What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Most martial arts start a child by teaching them to strike. Jiu-Jitsu starts somewhere more useful: what to do when someone bigger is already on top of you. How to stay calm. How to get up. On the mats that means escapes, control and getting out of a bad position — the situations that actually happen to kids. They learn to control another child without hurting them, and to talk before anything else. Older kids get a full hour of escapes, submissions and control, with technique before anything live.

What is Muay Thai?

Every class works pads and combinations with a coach or a partner, plus conditioning to build the fitness striking actually needs. Kids learn to hold a stance, move, and land a clean kick or punch on a pad — and to stop the second a coach says stop. Sparring exists in our more advanced classes, but it's never where a beginner starts: control comes first for every kid in the room.

Here's exactly what to expect.

01Arrive ten minutes early

Check in at the front desk, meet the coach, finish any paperwork (intake form/waiver) before class starts. No uniform is needed to start & no shoes on the mats - shorts/leggings & t-shirt are all fine. Ask us any questions and parents are welcome to stick around and watch.

02On the mats for class

Bow in for class, warm up, learn techniques and usually finishes with live drills or skill-based games to try and implement things from the days lesson. Parents are welcome to stick around and watch if they choose.

03Do it all again!

You have 2 weeks free so try to utilize them. The team is very welcoming and we try to make even the shyest kid come out of their shell & enjoy themselves. The more you come back the easier this gets.

Why parents pick Rumble

A family discount exists too — the second family member trains at 10% off, the third at 15% off, and the fourth trains free. Ask the front desk when you sign up.

Seventy-three families and fighters have gone to the trouble of writing about us on Google, and not one has given us less than five stars. We didn't pick the nice ones — that's all of them.

When Ava was four years old I would hear that at school the kids would treat her poorly. Rather than stand up for herself she would coward away and allow the kids to push her, punch her and even at times spit at her. As a parent this would break my heart, I had to take action. I signed Ava up for a new class that was starting at Rumble called the Tiny Ninja's. At the time they only taught classes to kids seven and up so we really lucked out that they opened up the schedule to include my sweet Ava. We are now five years later, Ava still struggles to stand up for herself but as a young girl she is head strong, confident and I couldn't be prouder of the young girl she has become. Last year Ava stepped outside her comfort zone and tried competing. At her first in house she was scared but held her own. It was incredible to see [h]er so confident in herself. None of [th]is would have been possible without all the help and support of the coaches at Rumble. I look forward to the strong woman she is going to become in her future!

Tyler had a confrontation at school and it's been going on for a while. A kid was rough-housing with him and he said he 'didn't want to go there', he blocked all of his shots, pinned him to the ground and said please don't go there. So I'm quite impressed with him. Where normally he would lash out, he's learning to restrain himself and be confident in what he can do.

I love training with all the Coaches and taking part in tournaments. Aside from the belts and the moves my favorite part about Rumble is that I always feel that I have a place to belong
